How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth? Sherlock Holmes to Dr. Watson, The Sign of the Four, Chapter VI
In this substack I will be returning to many themes of my past essays. Their interconnection has been clarified by the recent proclamation of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) on administration of the mRNA anti-COVID agents to infants and children 6 months and older “unless they are allergic to the ingredients”. This represents a huge break from an organization that for the past 4 years has demanded that everyone “follow the science”, meaning follow the recommendation of the CDC. The reason for this? Try this out: It differs from recent recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the CDC, which was overhauled this year and replaced with individuals who have a history of spreading vaccine misinformation,” the AAP said in a news release.
My own recommendation is to completely ignore any organization or individual using the terms misinformation, disinformation or malinformation. It begs the question, “by whose opinion is it misinformation”? That is because terming something “misinformation” is exactly that, an opinion. Up until COVID, these terms were only used in the context of a political race. The prudent individual will see that continues to be the case: this proclamation is based on politics and economics, as clearly, it ignores what they stated vehemently was “the science”.
I have yet to see any credible evidence that the benefits of these agents in that age group (at least, but could be expanded to most age groups) outweigh the risks. These agents do not prevent infection like a “real” vaccine (the CDC changed the definition of a vaccine a few years ago) nor do they prevent spread. Grandma is not protected by giving these agents to children! Any parsing of the change in definition to try to minimize the change is just ridiculous, as most critical thinkers will realize. If there is any “misinformation” here, this is it.
So, if the mRNA agent does not prevent infection and the risk benefit ratio seems negative in this age group (and perhaps others) and it does not prevent spread , is there another reason for this support?
Recently Robert F. Kennedy Jr. received criticism for suggesting economics played a part in this recommendation. This criticism was deflected by multiple sources screaming that individual physicians seldom make money from administration of vaccines. There are questions on that, though. Especially with these links to bonuses paid in the past for COVID vaccines. Let’s just leave that aside for now and concentrate on economic support to the American Academy of Pediatrics as an organization. Surprise! Virtually all the Big Donors are members of Big Pharma, including Moderna and Pfizer.
So, take the missive of Sherlock and eliminate the impossible and see what is left. These mRNA agents do not prevent infection, especially in this pediatric age group or transmission. Scratch these off as impossible. What is left??
What about Eduard Pernkopf? How does he fit into this? I venture less than 1% of those reading this have ever heard of him. You should know about him, though, and I hope you will understand why at the end of this essay.
Eduard Pernkopf was a remarkable individual. He rose through the academic ranks at the University of Vienna, finally becoming Dean in 1938 and Rector in 1943. He was also a rabid antisemite and member of the Nazi Party and Sturmabteilung (SA). He removed 77% of the faculty, and all Jews (including 3 Nobel Laureates). Here he is, addressing the faculty:
His magnum opus was an incredibly detailed anatomic atlas. Admittedly, it is visually superb. It was recommended to me as a first-year medical student in 1971. The problem was those superb dissections were most likely done on concentration camp victims. Only after multiple concerns in the 1980’s and 1990’s regarding the ethical use of this atlas was it shelved by most institutions.
The University of Vienna waited until 1998 to formally apologize for its openly antisemitic activity.
Unfortunately, the University of Vienna has a history of such antisemitism. This plaque is a memorial to the 1421 destruction of a Jewish Synagogue with the stones used to build the Theological Faculty. Sort of ironic…or maybe it isn’t.
What does this have to do with healthcare today? A valid question….EVERYTHIING!
Just as healthcare in Germany and Austria was hijacked by an ideology in the 1930’s, healthcare in the whole world was hijacked by an ideology in 2020. Fear was used as a weapon to bludgeon societies into giving up their freedom and critical thinking. Many people died needlessly. Some people became exceedingly wealthy. A small group controlled the power while many did their bidding to preserve their own economic safety and security. Only a small fringe of critical thinkers openly rebelled. They were ruthlessly repressed. Many were killed, at least professionally. Family members turned against each other. By and large spiritual leaders turned into collaborators or sat on the sidelines, just as had happened in the madness of the 1930’s and 1940’s. The Roman Catholic Pope even called getting the mRNA agent an “act of love” and depicted it on a Vatican coin:
While Eduard Pernkopf escaped significant earthly judgement for his actions, he was removed from his position as Rector but “found a quiet place to continue his work, having suffered much hardship”:
However, the credibility of the University of Vienna was destroyed by the moral and ethical lapse under Fascism. Likewise, the trust of the American public in hospitals and physicians has been cut in half by their actions regarding COVID. The major architects of the Great COVID Disaster also have so far, like Pernkopf, escaped accountability. Indeed, the Biden Administration granted Anthony Fauci a “pre-emptive pardon” for any crimes he may have committed.
True recovery of medicine from its Nazi heritage in Germany and Austria only came about when that generation of physicians who collaborated died. Writing about changes in acceptance of new scientific ideas, Max Planck, the great physicist and Nobel Laureate described the Planck Principle: Science progresses one funeral at a time. Ideas advance not so much by convincing people of their truth but by the death of those who oppose them. John Kenneth Galbraith was not quite as sanguine, but still pointed out how difficult it is for ideas, once solidified, to change:
It remains to be seen if our current state of medicine can break the mold and truly reform from within, or if we will follow the old pattern of allowing the perpetrators of the most significant medical scandal of our time to escape accountability and change only through attrition. If that be the case, all of society will suffer.
I hate to end on this chilling thought, but it must be stated. The years 2020 to 2025 saw a strange constellation of illogical (and some may say evil) actions. The Great COVID Disaster was not alone:
· The disastrous rout from Afghanistan and Biden’s statement that he would tolerate a Russian incursion into Ukraine if it was “minor” gave the greenlight for a war that has caused millions of deaths and casualties.
· The interests of illegal aliens were advanced over those of American citizens even by elected federal, state and local officials, federal law and executive orders. The borders were destroyed and tax funds used to fly illegals into the heartland.
· Criminals were afforded extra protection while law-abiding citizens were left to a rising crime rate and vilification of the police. Participating in “mostly peaceful” protests (without “social distancing”, by the way) was lauded as a “civic duty”.
· Idiotic “Climate Change” laws were enacted to punish the United States while China and India were left alone.
· DEI destroyed the elite universities and medical schools. Even now, DEI remains in many universities and companies with only the name changed.
· Most disturbing of all was the tacit support of rampant antisemitism, particularly on college campuses. Notice how antisemitism always seems to be a part of the most evil of actions…
Are all these destructive elements somehow connected? All of them harmed the interests of United States citizens and threatened the values of Western Civilization! These elements appear to be facets of a single ideology, as those who support one of the above positions one are likely to hold more, if not all. Those who chant “from the river to the sea” most likely are also “climate” activists, term illegal aliens “undocumented newcomers” and support DEI.
I am not calling them Nazis! What I am saying is that this ideology, like that of the Nazis, hijacked society here in the Unites States and perhaps the world. We must learn from the mistakes of the past if we will have even a small chance of avoiding them. You MUST take the time to watch the documentary Never Again is Now Global. Don’t look for it on YouTube…like so many uncomfortable ideas it was “cancelled”. Look for it on Rumble. The Lancet Commission on Medicine, Nazism and the Holocaust: Implications for Today, Teaching for Tomorrow took great pains to specifically deny any similarity between the totalitarianism of the past and that of the present under COVID.
Those same dialog ending words of “misinformation” and “conspiracy theory” are used to denigrate any investigation into the similarity to events of 90 years ago, but look back to your own experience and see how many things termed “misinformation” in the past 5 years were actually true. The difference between “conspiracy theory” and “truth” is about 6 months.
When multiple efforts have the same end, I will again return to Sherlock Holmes:
How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?
