Have to comment on your awesome profile pic! I have 2 GSD's myself...magnificent creatures, and more intelligent than half our population during covid.
I know exactly what you are talking about, Dr Gonnering. What you describe early in your essay was clearly outlined in Mattias Desmet’s book, The Psychology of Totalitarianism”, and Aaron Kheriaty’s book, “The New Abnormal”. It’s called mass formation psychosis where 30% follow along with the narrative, 10-30% object and the rest don’t bother to get involved. You saw this happen with Covid on multiple occasions through your church and with colleagues and professional societies. I, too, was subject to ostracism because I did not take the COVID vaccine. I am a retired RN and knew from past practice (I passed my boards in 1963) that the public health measures, including the lockdowns, that were being mandated were wrong and would cause more damage to society. Casual friends pushed the shots in social situations, and a retired physician friend was offended because I did not wear a mask and was unvaccinated when we saw he and his wife socially. They were all vaccinated, but worried about me carrying the disease. I told my husband that these were the kinds of people who would have pointed out to the Nazis where the Jews were hiding. I’m hoping that RFKJr can bring common sense back to medicine. I am concerned, though, because Trump has appointed an embedded bureaucrat to oversee pandemic readiness according to Dr Robert Malone’s Substack today. Thanks for your thoughts.

Wake the fffffffffup people and say" I am not going to take it anymore'" (Or, go slinking into the night like the blithering buffoon or the cackling buffoon. ).
I recall when our Catholic church had seating for vaxxed on one side of the aisle and unvaxxed in a special section on the other-- but we had to wear masks. It was the only time I was proud to wear a mask.
Are you seeing a nascent renaissance struggling to overthrow the cultural cancers? Is there hope?

Hopefully the people are perceptive enough to see those that are fighting the changes are the most guilty.
